How to Extend the Service Life of Hammer Crusher


Hammer crusher is a kind of crusher which uses hammerhead with high-speed rotation to impact the materials to make the material rupture along its natural fissures, bedding planes, joints and other vulnerable parts. The hammer crusher is widely used in mining, metallurgy, building materials and electricity industries. In the running process of the hammer crusher, due to the impact and friction of the materials, the hammerhead, liner, grate bars and other parts are inevitably subjected to wear and failure. The hammerhead is the most important wear part and its consumption is great. The hammerhead needs to be reserved a lot, which not only takes up the funds, but also affects the normal production of enterprises. The proper use and scientific maintenance of the equipment is the effective way to keep the equipment always in good condition and extend the service life of the hammer. If the hammer crusher is used and maintained improperly, the equipment failure is easy caused, such as vibration, noise, heat, wear, and it is bound to incur the reduction of the service life of the hammer.
You should pay much attention to the followings in the daily use of the hammer crusher.
First, appropriately control the size of the feed according to the design model. You mustn’t exceed maximum limit of design of the machine.
Second, choose appropriate feeding equipment. For example, you can use the apron feeder or vibrating feeder for feeding. You should endure the uniform and stable feeding and avoid the uneven feeding which may causes the impact or invalid operation of the equipment.
Third, since the weight of the hammerhead has error, you should ensure the balance operation of the rotor according to the current situation in the using process of the hammerhead.
Forth, you had better weigh the hammerhead when it is replaced. You can divide them into several groups according to the weight. The weight of every group should be equal. Otherwise, the imbalance of the rotor will cause vibration.
Fifth, carefully check the gap between hammer and screen bars when the machine stops. The gap can be adjusted if necessary. You should periodically replace the screen bars. The costs of the hammerhead are higher than the costs of the screen bars.
Sixth, the hammer frame of the hammer crusher is cast steel which has less contact with the material. When the metal objects enter the crusher or the liners fall off, the hammer plate is likely to be damaged or bent. At this time, you should timely change it. Otherwise, the hammerhead is easy to be damaged which will cause vibration.
Generally speaking, if we want to increase the service life of hammerhead of the hammer crusher, the manufacturers should try to guarantee and improve the quality of the hammer material and mechanical properties.
